Bicompartmental Knee Resurfacing

Many patients suffering from arthritis in two of the three compartments of the knee can now consider bicompartmental resurfacing instead of total knee replacement. Bicompartmental resurfacing combines patellofemoral and either medial or lateral compartment resurfacing and is used when non surgical management has failed to provide relief of the patient’s knee pain. Using the Mako robot allows presurgical planning of component size and placement and during surgery enhances the accuracy of component placement compared to traditional methods.
